Love Jones

You’re like the song that’s beautiful, but not long enough. That interlude I fell in love with. You’re like the 15-second loop at the end of a track that I wish was longer. The album that became my favorite after the 1st listen. Or the one I would listen to every day to know thoroughly.

The album I would passionately argue in favor of at every function.

You’re like that line I had to keep replaying because I didn’t understand it at first. You’re that song I chose to Shazam because I was too nervous to ask anyone around “what song is this?” You’re also that artist I discover and love so much that I need to share with everyone I know.

Sometimes I don't know if I wanna gatekeep your heart or show you to the rest of the world.

You’re that tune that sounds all too familiar, but I just can’t find the words to match and remember where I’ve heard it. But its melody never left my heart. You're the song I'm not ashamed to go and request the Dj to play.

You’re that one line in a song I look forward to hearing and always rewind. The line I repeat randomly throughout the day. You’re music to me. The first song I play in the morning.

If I were a songwriter, I’d sit in the studio for hours until I perfected you. I would keep you in the archives, for myself. But we never hide the vibrant plants where no one can see them. The only sound whose gravity can weigh on my eyelids until sleep has lured me. I got Love Jones for you. If I could, I’d always have your romance on replay.

You are God’s classic album. One that has aged gracefully. Timeless and always relevant to me. Girl, you already went platinum in my heart.
